Carbon Steel Plate, a cornerstone of modern industry, is an iron-carbon alloy with carbon content typically ranging from 0.05% to 2.0%. This composition balances strength, ductility, and weldability, making it indispensable for structural frameworks, machinery components, and heavy-duty equipment. Categorized by carbon content—low (≤0.3%), medium (0.3%–0.6%), and high (0.6%–2.0%)—each grade offers tailored properties. Low-carbon variants excel in formability and welding, ideal for automotive panels and pipelines. Medium-carbon grades provide enhanced tensile strength for gears and shafts, while high-carbon steel delivers exceptional hardness for tools and wear-resistant parts.
Widely adopted across sectors, carbon steel plates meet global standards like ASTM, JIS, DIN, and GB, ensuring consistency in applications from skyscraper beams to ship hulls. Surface treatments such as galvanizing or coating enhance corrosion resistance, while processing methods like hot rolling (for structural use) and cold rolling (for precision parts) refine mechanical properties. Its cost-efficiency, versatility, and adherence to rigorous certifications—including ISO and RoHS—solidify carbon steel plate’s role as a critical material in infrastructure development and advanced manufacturing.

Carbon Steel Plate is known for its high strength and excellent durability, and can withstand extreme mechanical stress, heavy loads and harsh environments. Its high carbon content (up to 2.0%) gives the material excellent tensile strength and fatigue resistance, making it suitable for critical infrastructure such as bridges, building structures, and pressure vessels. Surface hardening treatments (such as quenching or carburizing) can further improve wear resistance and extend service life.
Compared with stainless steel or alloy steel, carbon steel plates are cheaper to produce while maintaining good mechanical properties. Its raw materials are readily available and its processing technology is mature, making large-scale applications more economical. For non-corrosive environments or short-term use scenarios, carbon steel plates are ideal for controlling project budgets.
Carbon steel plates are easy to connect through a variety of processes such as arc welding and laser welding, and the weld strength is close to that of the parent material, ensuring structural integrity. Its good plasticity and machinability support a variety of forming methods such as cold rolling, hot rolling, cutting, and stamping to meet the manufacturing needs of complex parts.
Provide a variety of options with low, medium and high carbon content and alloying (such as manganese, silicon), such as:
Low carbon steel (A36/SS400): good weldability and formability, used in building structures.
High carbon steel (C1045): high hardness and wear resistance, suitable for tools and bearings.
Alloy steel (SAE 4140): improved toughness by adding chromium and molybdenum, used for gears and shafts.
Carbon steel plates can be 100% recycled and reused, in line with the concept of circular economy. Its long life and low maintenance requirements reduce resource consumption, while surface treatment technology (such as galvanizing, coating) can further extend service life and reduce environmental impact.

We have our own Physical & Chemical Testing Center Lab to guarantee our product quality. Our test items & instrument fully meet international standards.
Carbon Steel Plate is the cornerstone of the construction industry and is used for bridges, high-rise building frames, tunnel support and industrial plant structures. Low carbon steel (such as Q235, ASTM A36) is often made into H-beams, I-beams or steel sheet piles due to its good weldability and plasticity to withstand static and dynamic loads. High-strength low-alloy steel (HSLA) is used in seismic zones or high-rise buildings to achieve lightweight design by reducing the amount of steel used.
In automobile manufacturing, carbon steel plates cover the body, chassis, engine brackets and transmission systems. Advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) such as dual-phase steel (DP steel) achieves high strength and lightness through heat treatment, improves collision safety and reduces fuel consumption. Deep drawing steel (such as SPCE) is used for complex stampings such as car doors and hoods to ensure surface finish and forming accuracy.
Carbon steel plates are the core materials for gears, bearings, molds and machine tool components. Medium carbon steel (such as S50C) has a hardness of HRC50 or above after quenching and tempering, and is suitable for tools, gauges and wear-resistant parts. Alloyed carbon steel (such as 42CrMo) is used for high-load shafts, combining strength and toughness to reduce the risk of fracture.
The oil and gas industry relies on carbon steel plates to manufacture pipelines (such as X70, X80), storage tanks and offshore platforms. Low-temperature carbon steel (such as ASTM A333) is used for polar oil and gas transportation and is resistant to -45°C impact. Boilers and pressure vessels use grades such as P265GH and SA516 to ensure stability under high temperature and high pressure.
Aircraft landing gear, fuselage frames and engine pylons use high-strength carbon steel (such as 300M), which is alloyed (containing silicon and manganese) to improve fatigue life. In military equipment, armored steel plates (such as AR500) resist armor-piercing bullets through surface hardening, while submarine pressure hulls use ultra-low carbon steel (such as HY-80) to balance strength and weldability.
Carbon steel plates (such as AH36 and DH36) are used in hull structures, drilling platforms and port machinery, and must be certified by classification societies such as CCS and ABS. Galvanizing or coating treatment can extend the corrosion resistance period, while Z-direction performance steel (such as E36Z35) prevents laminar tearing and ensures welding safety.
Refrigerator and washing machine shells use cold-rolled carbon steel plates (such as SPCC), which are both beautiful and corrosion-resistant after electroplating or spraying. The inner shell of the oven uses fingerprint-resistant plates, and the surface coating reduces oil adhesion. Small appliances such as microwave brackets use the thermal conductivity and formability of carbon steel.
Food cans, aerosol cans and industrial barrels use tin-plated carbon steel plates (tinplate), and the thickness of the tin layer is only 2.8-5.6g/m² to prevent rust. Chemical containers use stainless steel composite plates, which use carbon steel as the base material to reduce costs, and at the same time achieve corrosion-resistant layer adhesion through explosive composite technology.
Railways, freight cars and container floors use wear-resistant carbon steel plates (such as Hardox 400), with a Brinell hardness of 400HBW and wear resistance that is three times that of ordinary steel. Train bogies use medium-carbon quenched and tempered steel (such as 40Cr), and fatigue strength is improved by controlling the distribution of carbides.
